King Seti I

The 2nd Pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty, Seti the First ruled from approximately 1291 to 1278 BC. His reign of 13 years began with an attack on Syria. He also battled the Libyans.

Ancient Egypt and ancient Syria were locked in so many battles! These wars lasted till after his death when his famous son would triumph and go on to become Egypt's greatest warrior-pharaoh Ramesses II The Great.

Seti was a military man and had even chosen his wife from the family of one of his lieutenants. His wife Raia bore him the mighty Ramesses as well as other children.

Other than wars and military campaigns, he began one of the greatest eras in art and culture in ancient Egypt. The temples built at this time were some of the most beautiful, and his own mortuary temple and tomb among the most alluring.

Seti I
As great as his reign was, one of the most important acts was his dedicated attention in teaching his son Ramesses II the ways of war and kingship.

In fact, he even sent him on missions and gave him many responsibilities. He taught him how to be a military man, which indeed he did.

Ramesses II went on to become the mightiest ruler Egypt had ever seen!

Although he had (in my opinion as well as many others) the most beautiful tomb, even more magical than the pyramid tombs of his predecessors, his mummy was later found in the Great Royal Cache alongside his beloved son.
